Odyssey’s “Secret” Restroom

Disney Restroom

Don't tell anyone. It's a big secret.

Okay.  Fine.  You’ve beaten me into submission.  I can’t take it anymore.

“Hey, did you know about the one between the car ride (Test Track) and the countries (World Showcase)?”

“When you gonna talk about Odyssey?”

“Hey, there’s a secret restroom at Epcot…”

Ugh.  Enough!  When a casual fan (a category in which I put myself) tells me about a secret restroom anywhere, I know it is game over.  The king is dead.  There is no spoon secret.  If the casual fan knows, then everyone knows.

I'm not telling you where this is.

I’m not telling you where this is.

Perhaps I dwell on labels.  The Odyssey Restaurant is not exactly a secret.  It just has low foot traffic.  The restrooms on the left are somewhat of a secret, I suppose.

Complete secret.

Complete secret.

The story of the Odyssey goes something like this:  The Greek hero Odysseus spends ten years returning from a ten-year war.  Meanwhile, his son and wife wait while fending off suitors.  Some stuff happens, blah blah blah, lots of death ensues, and they live happily ever after.  The end.

The story of the Odyssey Restaurant goes something like this:  There once was a counter service restaurant.  It was busy.  Then it was not busy.  It closed.  The end.  Basically, this is the exact same story.

Nobody ever sees this view. Secret!

Nobody ever sees this view. Secret!

Actually, that is not quite the end.  The building still stands and is used occasionally for festivals, conferences, etc.  More importantly, the restrooms are fully functioning and part of daily operations of Epcot.

Hooray for functioning!

Hooray for functioning!

The Odyssey Restaurant serves as a great little outpost between Test Track and Mexico.  It turns out that not a lot of people access the World Showcase this way for some reason.

Probably the huge rush over to Journey Into Imagination.

Probably the huge rush over at Journey Into Imagination.

That means lots of room to stretch out, especially because these restrooms are big to begin with.  And, for you souses, it is a great place to deposit eleven drinks from eleven different countries at the end of your own personal Odyssey around the world.

Viva Margaritas!

Viva Margaritas!

So there you have it.  Epcot’s dirty little secret.  Now please, help me to make sure this secret does not get out by continuing to not visit my site.  Have a nice day!
